The Novium
The new museum designed by Keith Williams Architects will open its doors to the public on Sunday July 8th 2012.
Open: Summer: Monday to Saturday 10am - 5pm, Sunday 10am - 4pm.
Winter: Tuesday to Saturday 10am - 5pm.
The site is located in Tower Street where the remains of Roman Baths were discovered in the 1970's. The 1,300sq ft museum is built on piles to protect the archaeology underneath.
Spread over three floors it has two galleries, a learning room, research room, a social history store, tourism services, a shop and the top floor gallery and views towards Chichester Cathedral.
Visitors are able to find out about life in the district over the past 500,000 years. It spans its Saxon, Norman and Medieval heritage through to comparatively recent Georgian and Victorian eras.
