Bognor Regis Museum (incl. Simpson Wireless Collection)

If you are interested in history and want to know about Bognor's past this is an excellent place to visit. With its extremely varied collection, which spans ancient fossils (including one named after Bognor) to social history of the town with a huge photo archive showing how the area has evolved.
This museum illustrates life in the town from Georgian times to 20th Century Bognor. Including 50 million year old fossils discovered in the area, and information about the towns famous former residents such as Sir Richard Hotham who in 1787 transformed Bognor from a small fishing village, to a popular Regency seaside resort and Victorian destination, complete with bathing machines.
The town's development since then is fantastically illustrated with miniature shop window displays showing businesses from the past. From hardware to pawnbrokers and chemist to cameras.
Also representing the 20th century and one of the most popular exhibits is its wireless collection built up by Ron Simpson which has a room to itself and has superb examples of early TVs and gramophones.
The building also has a research room, which has been kitted out with several computers for more serious study.
