Sussex has some of the best-preserved windmills in the UK, a number of which are open to the public and have had the original working mechanism restored. Watermills, too, provide a fascinating glimpse of power before the age of electricity in every home. National Mills Weekend 2012 is Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th May.
