Calling all animal lovers! Our new Working Animals Show. 21-22 July 2018, will focus on traditional and modern working breeds in an entertaining and informative manner for visitors of all ages.

Enjoy free talks and demonstrations in our animal-themed zones where you can learn about the animals, their work and how to care for them. Also learn about animal-based careers.

Watch arena displays to see these magnificent animals in action! Plus visit the children’s zone, where our younger visitors can learn about, handle and groom friendly animals.

Horses: meet Shire and Percheron heavy horses and learn about the farming tasks and machinery they work with. Take a carriage ride if the weather is fair (for a donation).

Oxen: see Sol and Saxon, the Museum’s pair of working Sussex oxen. Learn about how oxen were traditionally used for farming and watch them pull a cart around the Museum site.

Birds of prey: learn how these amazing hawks were traditionally used and watch an arena display of their work.

Dogs: herding, military and assistance dogs can be seen in action. Try the agility course with your own pet dog too!

Donkeys: used for riding and carrying loads, come and meet the friendly donkeys who will be at leisure during this event.

Also: ferret racing, rabbits, guinea pigs, alpacas, bees and therapy animals!

Even more animals, talks and demonstrations are being added each week – watch out for more information soon.

NB. we are taking a year out to refresh our popular Rare & Traditional Breeds Show, ready for a great comeback in 2019.
